چکیده
Objective: Compared with the extensive data on left sided infective endocarditis, right-sided endocarditis (RSIE) remains a rare condition. It accounts for 5–10% of all cases (IE) [1] [2] [3].Although it is predominantly encountered in injecting drug user (IDU) population, where HIV and HCV infections often coexist, rheumatic heart disease most important predisposing factor IE our context. The aim study to report clinical, investigation, management outcome 5 patients diagnosed RSIE department during last 2 years. Methods: A retrospective analysis right tertiary care center from 2018 2020 was done. Results: All were young aged females none them had cardiac devices or history use. Persistent fever common clinical presentation. Interestingly, 4 presented failure. 3 isolated tricuspid valve IE, one patient pulmonary have both IE. Blood cultures negative two cases, whilst others positive Streptococcus (alpha) Staphylococcus. underwent surgical treatment after well conducted antibiotic therapy indications presence failure secondary severe regurgitation size vegetations. Unfortunately, died massive embolism despite antibiotherapy. Conclusion: occurs wide range underlying conditions like implantable electronic devices, indwelling catheters, CHD immune compromised state. Surprisingly, can occur individuals without known risk factors. In context, incriminated etiology which lead us question three essential points: 1. interest prophylaxis VSDs 2. use empiric antibiotics action against streptococcus 3. Early disease.

Right-sided Infective Endocarditis with Multiple Large Vegetations in a Case of Ventricular Septal Defect: A Case Report
Herein, we present the case of a 10-year-old child suffering from right-sided infective endocarditis with ventricular septal defect. Echocardiography revealed multiple rare large vegetations on the pulmonary valve extending into pulmonary artery along with a large vegetation over the septal leaflet of the tricuspid valve.

If William Osler were alive today he would no doubt remark on the fundamental change in the nature of the disease that he originally described. Staphylococcal endocarditis in injection drug users is now the dominant form of the disease in many urban communities where there is a high incidence of injection drug use and homelessness. At our institution (a tertiary care, university affiliated hosp...

BACKGROUND Infective endocarditis (IE) has been increasingly reported, however, little is available regarding recent development of right-sided IE. METHODS Right-sided IE was comprehensively analyzed based on recent 5⅓-year literature. RESULTS Portal of entry, implanted foreign material, and repaired congenital heart defects were the main predisposing risk factors. Vegetation size on the ri...

Right-sided infective endocarditis (RSIE) accounts for 5-10% of all cases of infective endocarditis and is predominantly encountered among injecting drug users (IDUs). RSIE diagnosis requires a high index of suspicion as respiratory symptoms predominate. Prognosis of isolated RSIE is favourable, and most cases (70-80%) resolve following antibiotic administration. Surgical intervention is indica...
متن کاملTransesophageal echocardiography in right-sided endocarditis.
OBJECTIVES Our aim was to determine the diagnostic value of transesophageal echocardiography in right-sided endocarditis. BACKGROUND Recent studies have demonstrated that transesophageal echocardiography is superior to transthoracic echocardiography in the detection of vegetations associated with left-sided endocarditis. Its diagnostic value in right-sided endocarditis has not been establishe...
